If you watched Seinfeld during its more than a decade on television, lived during the nineties, or have paid any attention to pop-culture references over the past ten years, then you have inevitably heard the quote “No soup for you! from the popular character “the Soup Nazi in the lasting sitcom Seinfeld.
The Soup Nazi, or the Soupman, reportedly made the most delicious soup in New York City (maybe the world) but was overly temperamental about the rules regulating his soup-line restaurant. It appears the Soupman is not a completely fictional character after all although his real name is Al Yeganah, he doesn’t particularly like to be called any kind of Nazi, he is not as temperamental as depicted on Seinfeld, and you do not need to worry about following arcane rules in the soup line or risk banishment. Al Yeganah opened Soup Kitchen International, the original soup shop, in 1984 and still runs it personally to this day.
Through the successes at Soup Kitchen International, Al Yeganah essentially set the standard for what delicious, world-renowned soup is. Now there is an original Soupman restaurant in Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, with all the same wonderful ingredients, soups, and services. The MN Soupman brings to Minneapolis the same exciting tastes and devotion to excellence that the original Soup Kitchen International showcased in New York City. To bring these wonderfully delicious soups to the hungry customers in Minnesota, Soupman has expanded to Twin Cities to satisfy their hunger needs.
